"The difference between a Supaemcee and simply an accomplished lyricist"

"10/10... [Shad] is a more than worthy candidate to lead hip-hop into the future"

"Shad’s rhythm is as tight as a metronome. He may be an amorous dreamer who still lives with his parents, but there is nothing juvenile about his lyrics and delivery. The Old Prince may not be that old yet, but he already sounds like he has perfected his art."

"Shad shows that he certainly earns all of the praise, critical acclaim, awards, and hype that he has garnered through this magnificent LP."

"Shad is Hip Hop Royalty"

"5N's ... one of the wittiest lyricists in hiphop"

Slakah The Beatchild

Slakah The Beatchild is definitely one of Canada's most talented young muscians.  Here's a fun lil' clip of him and his fam rolling up to his CD Release event, and doing a lounged out beatbox rendition of Enjoy Ya Self.

Slakah is the mastermind behind the production on Now A Daze.  I still think this is one of the smooooothest sounding tracks in Shad's catalogue. (Props to Tim Lum at Pixel Flex for his beautiful artwork in this vid!):

Shad and Slakah need to tour the world together.  Jam done.

Strange things happen in nighttime hours
Yesterday's buds, tomorrow's flowers
Those who speak numbers, refuse the great forgiver
And powerful men raise your hands and deliver
All the superstitions to which we all cling
While high minds in Geneva ponder e8 vs. string
The sun hides itself, concealing its grin
And waits for the dawn to reveal itself again

Oh, young cardinals
Nesting in the trees
Oh, hear our songs
And reign your innocence on me

Strange things happen in the nighttime hours
White tails graze and wolves devour
Ghosts of old loves are blowing through the pines
Nicotine babies are being born without spines
The god of the sea is swinging his trident
We stoke our fires with the bones of tyrants
The sun, it retreats through the dust and the din
And waits for the dawn to reveal itself again

Oh, young cardinals
Nesting in the trees
Oh, hear our song
And reign your innocence on me

Oh, young cardinals
Take flight
Return to nest in the black of night
There were things you were not meant to know

The Boogeyman (TBM) - The Burn

Our (VERY) good friends at OTA Live put together one of the TIGHTEST radio shows that exists on mainstream radio.  Every Tuesday and Thursday night, they let us dip into what REAL radio is ALL about. GOOD CONTENT!  From their Unauthorized Biography series, to OTA Talk, to The Burn mixes, OTA Live does it sooo right.

In addition to running OTA Live, Ty Harper and Rez Digital recently started a blog that highlights some of the great things happening in Toronto's Hip Hop community.  They also post their weekly mixes courtesy of The Boogeyman (TBM).  Last night's mix included a couple of Shad tunes!  Click on the pic below to check out the tracklisting and download link.

OTA Talk hosted Shad and Tona for a session back in March 2008.  This clip is part 4 of the 4 part session.

Blue Scholars - The Dawn Song feat. Shad (Bayani Redux)

I'm pretty late posting this tune.  For those that don't know, Blue Scholars are a hip hop duo based out of Seattle, Washington.  Sabzi and Geologic invited Shad to join them on the re-release of their 2007 album Bayani.  The new version, Bayani Redux is in stores on Duck Down Records, and features "The Dawn Song" which you can check out below:
